From April 3 to 5, the traditional mini-football tournament, the Sacred Ramadan Cup, took place in Saransk, bringing together athletes, public figures, and religious leaders from different regions of Russia. This year, the competition gathered 11 teams, serving as a vivid example of how sports help strengthen friendship, mutual understanding, and spiritual values.
The winner of this year’s tournament was the team from the Saratov Cathedral Mosque — symbolically, in the year of its 190th anniversary, the team demonstrated a high level of preparation, cohesion, and the will to win.
Special attention during the tournament was paid not only to the athletic component but also to educational aspects. An interfaith roundtable titled “Faith and Sport” was held at the A.S. Pushkin National Library of the Republic of Mordovia. Participants discussed current issues in the development of physical culture, the role of sports in youth education, as well as the interaction between religious and public institutions in building a harmonious society.
The tournament was organized by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Mordovia and LLC “Agency for Sports Insurance,” with the support of the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Mordovia, the Mini-Football Association of Russia, and the Football Federation of the Republic of Mordovia.
The World Congress of the Tatars consistently supports initiatives aimed at the development of sports, the preservation of spiritual values, and the strengthening of interethnic harmony. Holding such tournaments is an important part of this work, contributing to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and the strengthening of unity among the peoples of Russia.
We express our sincere gratitude to Mufti Rail Asainov of the Republic of Mordovia and his team for the high level of organization of the tournament. Such events not only advance the sports movement but also serve as a solid foundation for dialogue, mutual respect, and cooperation.
